JASON DOWD

Embracing traditions of the 19th century, Jason Dowd explores beautiful form through an extensive process of paint layering. Oils became his choice of medium early on, as they offered an unparalleled richness of color and texture for his subjects.

Graduating with distinction from Art Center College of Design, Jason sought the instruction of several living masters with whom to continue his artistic training. David Leffel, Carolyn Anderson, and Morgan Weistling are a few of those who have reinforced his drive to excel at his craft.

Jason has shown with many prominent galleries including John Pence (San Francisco), Waterhouse (Santa Barbara), Altermann (New York/Santa Fe), and most recently received an Award of Excellence for "Silent Lions, The Fox Theater" at the 2011 Oil Painters of America Western Regional Exhibition, hosted by Lee Youngman Galleries.  He continues to teach at the Laguna College of Art and Design.
