Ken Zier is one of the dwindling number of Danish artists who carry on the ancient tradition of marine painting in Denmark. Most of his life has been spent close to the sea and all his family are keen sailors. The ever-changing sea, the colors of the sky and cloud formations have been an endless source of inspiration for him. In his paintings of yachts there is a strong feeling of being there in the boat and experiencing its speed, the waves and the sound of the wind in the rigging. Ken Zier specializes in seascapes and clouds capes as well as coastal scenes by moonlight or just after sunset with lights glimmering in the distance. Yacht portraits are another specialty and he has carried out many commissions and exhibited his work in Denmark and abroad since becoming a professional painter in 1995.
