A French Marine Artists now residing in the USA, he is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists.
Artist, racing sailor, businessman, lawyer… probably one of the last Renaissance men. Born and raised in Normandy, Mr. Parent developed an early intimacy with the sea. Sailing and painting have been his passions for a long time. He is one of very few artists to have painted Cape Horn on location (during a round-the-world race). He painted the coasts of Brittany and Normandy as well as the southern coast of England for a number of years before discovering the East Coast of the U.S. as a result of a Single-Handed Trans-Atlantic Race. (In late 1998 he completed his seventh Atlantic crossing.)
For several years now he has been painting coastal scenes of the East Coast, from Maine to the South. He has also visited and painted the Great Lakes as well as Bermuda and the Caribbean Islands. Almost all of his works are sketched directly form a boat, giving him a perspective not available to many other artists.
